Paint & Curtains!

With my mom in town to help, the painting and curtain hanging began last Thursday night and went through Saturday afternoon. The curtains and fabric to make the matching valances were a combination birthday and mother's day gift for me and I am so thrilled with the way they look! Thus far we have painted the wall in our eat-in area and the wall that holds our sliding door and fire place, etc. We still have a lot of painting to do in the house (A LOT!), but just a little bit goes a long way to motivating us to finish painting the house and to get rid of the WHITE WHITE WHITE walls that we dislike so much. The neutral color we chose to run throughout most of the house is called Nutmeg Frost. We are planning to put a red (of some sort) accent wall in our kitchen. We are also planning to run the neutral color into our bedroom, with some sort of accent in our adjoining master bath (or possibly visa versa)... who knows when it will all actually be completed, but it is exciting to plan!

Here are some pics of our work in the eat-in and family room...

If you look at the corner on the right side of the photo you can see the difference between the new color and the white wall.

The lighting is funny on the pic, I will try to post a new one soon...

This is where we plan to paint the red accent wall, so no paint here yet, but I posted the pic to show off my kitchen valance.

Looks good! Its always so fun to get rid of white walls :) And yes, it is very weird to not be painting with you guys (although, I must confess, at this point the thought of more painting makes me a little ill!)

Well, I ordered the panels from a magazine, and my mom had the valances made to match. She was going to do the valances herself, but something came up so she asked someone to do it for her. I'm so excited they are done!
