Monday morning at 9 a.m. will mark our (almost) 20 week ultrasound. I am SO excited!!! The most obvious reason for my excitement - finding out the sex of the baby - has all of us eager (mommy, daddy, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and most especially, MICAH!). I am also excited to get another glimpse of the little one who waved at me during the 11 week ultrasound. This will be the last glimpse we have prior to birth so I am planning to fully savour it. I am also excited and eager thanks to the heavy amounts of unnecessary worrying I have done this pregnancy thus far. Seriously, what is my deal? Why don't I believe this is actually happening? Why do I have a nagging feeling all of the time that something is going to be wrong, no matter how well things seem to be going? ... a great heartbeat, a set of wonderful doctors diligently monitoring my thyroid, and most of all, the one and only great God whose hand is faithful and ever-present. I must remember that!
I don't have a picture update yet, but will most likely post one early next week along with new ultrasound pics. The baby seems to have shifted position over the last couple days as I am feeling kicks and movement a bit higher up in my belly and my stomach seems to be pushing outward a lot more than before. I keep trying to compare how I am carrying to my other pregnancies, but truth be told, it has been a bit too long and I don't really recall how I carried previously all that well. I just need to be patient and stop analyzing. Only 3 more days!

Blog Slacker
Apologies for being the world's biggest blog slacker the last few weeks, minus a few very important Bulldog posts. For some reason I have been really bad at taking pictures lately - I don't think that I took even one picture on Easter, believe it or not. Also, the pregnancy has been consuming most of my energy, so once the afternoon comes (my normal blogging time) I can usually be found napping on the couch, or at least trying to do that if my kids are cooperating. But, I have finally added a couple new posts...

This Pregnancy
A baby at 17 weeks gestation As of tomorrow, Tuesday, I will be 17 weeks along in my pregnancy. Time feels like it is flying! It is astonishing to me how fast things are progressing this time around. In fact, in some weird way I don't even truly believe that I am pregnant. I feel like I just found out. Too little time to focus on it, I suppose, with Micah and Caden running around and keeping me busy. Nonetheless, I AM pregnant and there have been many signs of proof. A growing belly, a bizarre appetite, peeing (just a little) when I sneeze, the heartbeat that I finally got to hear for the first time a few weeks ago, flutters and small kicks in my tummy...
One of the most fun (sure let's call it "fun", why not?) things about this pregnancy has been how totally different it has been from the others. My first two pregnancies were very similar. No morning sickness, mild nausea which usually only showed up after taking my prenatal vitamins, the need to eat nearly two breakfasts each morning, average weight gain, carrying out-front and somewhat low, and very few complications (with Micah I retained a lot of water, and I had a short - praise God! - lapse of sciatica with Caden).
This pregnancy, on the other hand, has been a totally different ballgame. My first trimester was filled with icky nausea, which mostly hit me in the evenings and at night, and seemed to have no connection to when I took my prenatals. I have had an extremely unusual appetite and I am often not hungry at all. However, when I do get hungry, watch out - and if you happen to be near some chocolate or a pickle, duck and cover! ;-) I have been pretty darn emotional (e.g. crying at commercials or cheesy reruns of "Full House"), though I have to wonder how much of that is exacerbated by my general tiredness from taking care of the boys. I appear to be carrying higher and wider than normal, according to my sister-in-law (I think she is right). Thus far I have had very little weight gain and my skin is much clearer (yay!) than during my other pregnancies.
Our "big" ultrasound is scheduled for Monday, May 3rd, right before I cross the 20-week line. Of course the first priority is to check on the general health and development of our baby, but we will also be finding out (God-willing) the sex of the baby. I'd be a liar if I did not say that I am hoping for a girl -- because I am. However, I am fully aware of the fact that the baby may very well be a boy (so for those of you worrying about my state of reality, please don't). In fact, being that fits of crazy pregnant dreaming have begun, just two nights ago I dreamt that the baby was a boy. I was very upset in my dream. No joke. Extremely disappointed. However, once I allow myself to get past the simple notion of "boy" or "girl" and start thinking of the sweet hands and the sweet face and the precious person that God is creating inside of me the issue of sex really becomes irrelevant. Bottom-line, I am thankful for this child no matter what.
Thus far, we have not taken any belly pictures. I promise to do that and post one soon!

Micah's Musical Debut
Micah's preschool put together a mid-morning Easter Lenten Service where all of the kids sang a series of cute Easter songs. This was the first time that Micah has ever been "on stage" and, of course, I was the very sappy mom who was tearing up the whole time while watching him sing with the other kids and wave to me saying "Hey, Mommy, I'm over here!". Micah had a lot of fun and especially loved shouting out the lyrics "Jesus is not dead, HE'S ALIVE!". It was truly precious.
After the mini-service, we went back to Micah's classroom for cookies and punch. Caden especially loved this part of the morning ;-)!

***If I can get them to work, I will post a couple videos from the performance sometime soon.
