My Garden :)

Year after year I start a garden and then things like tornadoes, monsoons and hail storms kill it before we get to enjoy much of its growth.  This year, things are looking good!  Hopefully everything keeps hanging on!

First day at our new school!

Micah and Caden started 2nd and 1st grade, respectively, this past week.  The Lord led us to a new school over the spring and summer, a small Christian school in downtown Flag.  It has been a big transition for us -- even a dress code (they sure look handsome everyday!) -- but so far so good!  God even surprised us with some boys from our summer soccer team as students at the school!

We're here!

Chatting with the principal

Sister sure misses her brothers during the day!

Family Picture

Bryce turned five this weekend and someone had their thinking hat on!  We all gathered together for a family picture during the party.  Turned out to be a pretty cute one!

Green Fireballs

Soccer has been lots of fun this season!  For the first year, Micah and Caden are on the same team, the Green Fireballs!  Jake is coaching, doing a great job teaching and corralling all of the young boys.  Karlynn and I love cheering on the sidelines.  She actually spends a lot of her time kicking her soccer ball next to the field.  I think she will be very excited to play "for real" next summer.  Micah's soccer skills have improved quite a bit this season and he is actually scoring about two goals each game, usually as part of an assist.  Caden is a good defensive player and does a decent job of keeping the ball away from the goal.

Grace Group Guys Weekend

The Grace Group guys woke up WAY TOO EARLY on Saturday morning to drive to Six Flags in Valencia, CA. They stayed from opening til after close and had an absolute blast! It was fun to see pictures come in over Facebook during the day. They enjoyed playing and being boys!

Blogging a blog

I don't think that I have ever blogged another's blog post before.  There is a first time for everything.  I simply loved everything about this post, but two points especially...

1) There is no perfect way to parent.  We like to think so.  Mothers very much like to be critical of other mothers.  But, at the end of the day, the important parts of parenting are not which products you choose to use or not use in your home.  They are not whether or not watching TV is a part of your routine.  They are not whether you chose to breast feed, bottle feed, use an infant carrier, vaccinate, work, or are a stay-at-homer.  Nope.  We all have our own opinions on those issues and more, but those choices do not make a home, a parent, a child or a family.

2) If parenting does anything, it teaches you that you know very little on your own.  It humbles you.  It teaches you to let go of selfishness.  It teaches you to let go of haughty expectations (some placed by yourself, some by others).  It teaches you to lean on the Lord and let Him be the one who makes a home, a parent, a child and a family.

Here it is.  Simple, but lovely...
