Coodies!

The Goble-house is now coming up on a week of a gross stomach bug! Caden had it first -- in fact, I think I can tell you the exact moment he contracted this awful bug, whatever it may be. We were shopping at Target. We had a few different places to errand so in my haste and laziness I skipped the floppy (shopping cart cover), leaving it in the car, and just tossed Caden into the shopping cart seat. About three seconds later I saw Caden lean forward and wrap his mouth around the cart handle. AHHHH! Quite frankly, it doesn't matter how fast you remove his mouth at this point, what's done is done. Three to four days later, BOOM, Caden is losing his appetite and the puking begins. Let it be known that Caden has a terribly sensitive stomach on a normal basis, so he does not handle these bugs very well. Micah, on the other hand, has an ironclad tummy. Micah woke up with the bug at about 2:30am Sunday (three to four days after Caden became ill) puking in bed (poor guy!). Fortunately, he is getting over the whole thing much faster than Caden did and has only thrown-up the one time -- again, ironclad tummy. His appetite has been pretty poor though. Caden is finally getting his appetite back and has become hunger crazed, though he can only eat small amounts at a time. Fortunately, no emergency doctor trips have been needed. Both boys have been virtually fever-less and have been able to stay hydrated. Outside of those two things there isn't much a doc can do for a virus.

There is a popular email forward, I have received it many times, that talks about being a parent (a mother in particular). One portion of the forward describes perils a parent endures... being puked on, pooped on, pee-d on, etc. Nothing could be more true. As a parent you really do become one with bodily fluids. If you are wienie in this area, you might as well give it up and get over it. Jake and I have certainly had an opportunity to discuss this (a few times!) in the last week. We laugh though, well maybe just me, because during this last sick episode Jake seems to be wearing a big giant bullseye. The kids can be doing just fine with me, but the moment Jake picks them up or sits down with Caden for a bottle feeding, BLAH! I think he has changed clothes and showered more this week than in the last month.

Oh, and here's a little side-story for you... While changing one of Micah's glorious diapers (his tummy may be ironclad, but his intestines are not quite so solid) he decides to spell "poo-poo" for me. This may sound like odd entertainment to you, but Micah is very much into spelling words right now. Anyway, he goes, "D-O-O-K-I-E spells poo-poo!" Thanks a lot, Daddy! ;-)

As for Jake and I, we are doing pretty well considering. I did get hit with a heavy head and some nausea for most of Sunday (what a wonderful Father's Day for Jake -- we'll have to make it up to him!), but that seems to be all I am going to have. Jake came home from work last night with a fever, but woke up feeling much better this morning and is back to work. I made him promise me that he would come home right away if he started to feel ill again -- nobody at work needs to experience this joy or spread it to their families!

Anyway, prayers would sure be appreciated as we all make it through that last few days of this! Hopefully I didn't gross too many people out - I tried to contain most of the details.
