Happy New Year from the Gobles

(A copy of our newsletter soon to hit the mail.)

Greetings from 2011!

Well, here it is. Our first Goble Family Holiday Newsletter… something that I have wanted to do for years. After a busy and somewhat tumultuous 2010 it seems more than appropriate to finally get the newsletter ball rolling, especially since I completely fell off of the Christmas card bandwagon this season. Hopefully, I will be more organized next year!

2010 brought us many great blessings. In January we got the news that I was pregnant and by early May found out we were going to have a little girl. Most exciting! Karlynn Elisabeth was born on September 17th at 4:53 p.m. after a few weeks of labor drama. When she finally arrived it was speedy, thankfully, and she was healthy and beautiful! The boys are thrilled to have a little sister and spend a lot of their time making her smile!

Our summer was full and fun; a wonderful break from the daily grind for a stay-at-home mom and hard-working husband and father! In May we ventured out to California for a family trip to Disneyland and the beach. We had a blast! Things like Disney get more and more fun as the boys get older. June took our family to Vancouver, Washington to visit some good friends for a week or so, as well as on a small trip to San Diego for just Jake and I while the boys stayed back in Arizona with Grandma and Grandpa. Small respites of couple-time are something that Jake and I cherish as those moments are few and far between. In addition to all of our summer travels, Micah joined his first soccer team. Jake, Caden and I had a great time cheering him on from the sidelines. His youthful strategies (i.e. distract opposing team players) were fairly entertaining, but he did manage to score a couple goals. Caden looks forward to playing next year.

Micah began Pre-K and Caden a three year-old preschool class in August. They both absolutely LOVE school! We are hoping this passion lasts for awhile.

Early October quickly flipped our busy lifestyle on its head when our home was hit by a tornado in the wee hours of the morning! While this was both a shocking and frightening experience, God’s mighty hand of protection and provision are the things I will always remember most when I look back on the event. We were all safe and sound, including our two week-old infant, though our home took on a great deal of damage. Family and friends have covered us in prayers, meals, giftcards, care-packages and love. Our insurance company (State Farm) has been fabulous thus far.

They were on-site to board up our home within hours of the storm and have continued to do their job by providing appropriately for our partial external rebuild and nearly completely internal remodel. They have also put us up in a great rental just down the street from our house, which helps us keep an active eye on construction. While our rental is very nice, we do miss our own place and are hopeful to be back in our repaired home sometime this spring. I am sure our next newsletter will tell of that joyful day!

Cheers to you all for a blessed and happy 2011!

Love from Whitney, Jake, Micah, Caden and Karlynn
