We had our first ultrasound this morning - something we had eagerly been waiting for, for many reasons. Following the miscarriage I had over the summer simply seeing that the baby was there and doing well was very reassuring. My OB especially wanted me to have an ultrasound, not due to any concern, but because my body had been so out of wack since the miscarriage that he suspected I may actually be further along than we realized. He was right. Instead of being 10 weeks, I was actually 11 weeks along, which sets the due date around September 21st. Yippee!!
The baby was active - kicking and even waving like you can see in the first picture above. I have had a first trimester ultrasound with each of my children, and I don't think I will ever cease to be amazed by the experience and God's amazing hand. The fact that in such a short amount of time legs, arms, feet, hands, fingers, toes, a tummy, and a face with a profile have formed and are actively moving is so very incredible!
Micah and Caden were fascinated by the pictures I brought home and asked a number of questions... my favorite was when Micah asked if the baby would still be grey when he/she came home. So cute. We had a little lesson on taking x-ray type pictures.
